We are always looking for patients who are positive (or symptomatic) for COVID, Flu, or RSV (Common Cold). Click on the Enroll Now link below, or call our office at 309-291-0585, to see if you qualify.
Study Participation Details Most of our COVID-19 testing studies require that patients have current symptoms of COVID, Flu, or RSV (Common Cold) in order to participate. If you have any symptoms, please contact our office to set up a same-day appointment. You do NOT have to be a patient of Koch Family Medicine to participate.
Participation in one of our COVID-19 testing research studies will take less than an hour of a participants time and consists of providing 2-3 nasal swabs and some information about current symptoms and vaccine history. Some of our studies require that you test yourself using a new test and give feedback on the ease of use while on others the tests are completed by a member of our team.
All of our research studies compensate participants for their time and travel.
If you have questions or want to see if you qualify, please give us a call at 309-291-0568.
COVID-19 Device Clinical Trial Background The FDA closely monitors all drugs and medical devices sold in the United States to protect the user from dangerous or misleading products. With the emergence of COVID-19 in 2020, medical companies across the globe rushed to help reduce the spread of the virus by developing drugs, vaccines, and testing kits to detect the virus. Unfortunately, the testing kits that are used to detect the virus are not perfect, so the FDA is always pushing companies to improve their testing accuracy in order to be sold in the United States. In order to get FDA approval (or an Emergency Use Authorization) to sell COVID-19 testing kits, the testing kits must go through clinical trials to verify the accuracy on volunteers like you!
Koch Family Medicine has worked with a number of companies that develop COVID-19 testing kits to help bring in volunteers to try their COVID-19 testing kits and gather data to show how accurate the tests are. As of November 2022, we have helped on 20 different COVID-19 clinical trials and have enrolled more than 3000 patients in these trials. New testing kits are being developed all the time to try to get more accurate results and to adapt to the new COVID-19 variants, so we are always looking for volunteers to help on new studies (even if you have participated in one of our previous studies).
